Scrappin' Sanity........

When you make quilts you have scraps....

And I have been having fun with my scraps.  Coordinating scraps from one fabric line make for pretty little things.  Like little zippered pouches....

 

 

 
 

There are more of these on the horizon.  I am thinking as stand alone little gifts, or filled with little thinks like lip balm and hand lotion, or as a gift card holders.   They are fairly large....I used a 10" zipper across the top, if that helps give you an idea of size.  They vary from about 6-10" deep.  They are lined on the inside...next batch I make I will show the inside too. 

Are those of you in the area enjoying the blanket of spring snow we have on the ground?  At least we didn't get as much as some parts of the state.  Later!

 

Central Park,anyone?

 

I don't like to show quilts until they are totally done (they take a lot longer to finish than a scrapbook page!) but I was pretty excited about this one and just had to show it. The colors and fabric and design all seem so fresh and fun and they are not a color combination I would have EVER put together myself.  This was made from a Central Park jelly roll and the pattern is from this book. I will pick one of the large floral prints for an outside border but don't know which one yet.  Then I think I will actually do the quilting myself in a straight line pattern.

That sweet little blondie is our neighbor girl who came over to watch the prep so we had fun fixing her hair too.   I also found out we are good neighbors because as she told Kelsey, "Jim and Tracy let you PICK what candy you want.  Most people give you candy (on Halloween) but they give you special baskets and also let you PICK what you want from the dish."  Loved that - you just never know what you do that will leave an impression on a child.

Kelsey and I had a great time doing Kaitlyn's hair and playing with a bump-it.  The group pictures were taken at the house of the girl in the short black dress, which was a lot of fun too.   They had a nice dinner at Jakes, then the dance and hot-tubbing afterward.  Great kids!

 

 

 

 

Happy Birthday to Kelle...

 

She is a sweetheart and today we are celebrating her birthday by going out to lunch and a movie.  She is getting some acrylic crack Papertrey Ink stamp sets from their latest release from me.  Happily, they are sets I like too and I know she will let me borrow them.  It's like a present to me, too!   

The card is made from BasicGrey paper from a 6x6 pad....love those things!  I can cut into pretty paper to make a card without worrying about waste like I do with a 12x12 piece.  The doily is from the cake decorating section of Michaels and the ticket stamps are Papertrey Ink.  Button, twine and rhinestones are supply items (aka 'stash'). 

I sort of made an acrylic card that works!

 

Don't you just love this Girls Paperie paper?  I also added a sticker border (the glittery flowers) that is Doodlebug Designs (from good 'ol Hobby Lobby, also know as Hob Lob or HoLo!).   I am also addicted to all the colors of little rosebud flowers you can buy at Michaels (Recollections brand).  The big butterfly was cut on my cricut.  Here is a shot of the inside, which is where my troubles with making acrylic cards comes into play.

Playing with Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 paper.

I loved this paper from first sight, and played around with it recently to make some cards.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I thought this paper line would be good for masculine cards and layouts, but as these cards show, it certainly isn't confined to a manly look.  Also used in these cards are a Tim Holtz rosette die, ribbons from stash, seam binding from SU, stitching, little rosette flowers (thanks Felicia!) felt die cut flowers,  and stickers from the Circa paper line.
